Polaris makes having a pool a breeze!

by   brenzmom ,  Jul 28, 2003
Pros: Cleans quickly and thoroughly, easy to use
Cons: Price, cost of replacement parts
The Bottom Line: This cleaner is a hassle free way to have a very clean pool!
Review: When we first moved into a house with a pool I spent long hours happily cleaning the pool. Then when ...

An extreme cleaner

by   khargette ,  Jun 23, 2006
Pros: Lightweight, cleans well, easy to use
Cons: Expensive, must be installed by pro
Review: We just got the Polaris 380 about 6 weeks ago and I can't believe the difference in the cleanliness of the pool. The pool is always sparkling clean 24/7, and all I have to do is occasionally empty the bag. It sucks up everything from sand, silt, ...

Vacuums While it Entertains!

by   glomarrone ,  Oct 12, 2002
Pros: Simplifies pool cleaning, eliminates vacuuming chores, entertaining to watch, durable, 100% efficient, parts readily available
Cons: Cost, installation time, requires booster pump, poor on steps/corners, cleaning time, random movements
The Bottom Line: Spend more time enjoying your pool-let Polaris 380 vacuum, sweep and scrub. It’s durable, dependable, reliable-operates at 100% efficiency. Recommended for gunite, fiberglass, vinyl lined in-ground pool-good value.
Review: Our old Arneson Pool Sweep II cleaner gave us many years of dependable service, but we finally needed a newer unit after a brownout affected its operation making it less efficient. So off we headed to our local pool supply dealer in search of...

I wish they made this for indoors

by   pescj ,  Nov 11, 2001
Pros: Easiest way to vacuum a pool
Cons: Doesn't handle stairs well, slow, can't spot-clean
The Bottom Line: We're thrilled to have this thing. It's almost worth the money just to see the cat jump when the tail squirts him unexpectedly as he's lounging poolside.
Review: UPDATE - After 5 years of using this product, I thought I'd post a quick update. I've had no problems of any sort. It works as well today as it did when we first installed it. I use it less now then I used to, though. At first, I put it in the pool ...

GREAT unit, very versatile, cleans well

by   kldesq ,  Dec 22, 2004
Pros: cleans your pool--period. Easy to use.
Cons: somewhat costly, but worth it. MUST be installed by pro--NOT do it yourself, sorry Polaris.
The Bottom Line: If you take great pride in your pool, want the best and don't mind paying for it--buy this one.
Review: We've had this unit for about a year and I would highly recommend it. Our pool: we have a gunite irregular pool with a raised spa in North Texas. It is a fairly large pool, with approximately 31,000 gallons and has a depth of three feet to ten feet. ...

Not Very durable

by   mountainlaker ,  Aug 26, 2006
Pros: Seems to do a fair job of getting the pool floor area.
Cons: Does not seem to be a very durable unit. Very erratic pattern
Review: I have owned the Polaris 380 for about 2 1/2 pool seasons. I was very pleased with it until lately. It has a very erratic pattern and just seems to circle the 6 foot "deep" section. I recently found a hair line crack in the back up valve housing, most ...

Forget the Polaris 380; the Polaris 280 is a far better unit.

by   doodad_dude ,  Jan 2, 2004
Pros: It's better than nothing
Cons: Goofy unreliable (expensive to repair) belt drive, poor adhesion to pool floor.
The Bottom Line: Buy a Polaris pool cleaner, but don't buy the 380. If you have an in-ground pool, buy the 280 instead.
Review: Polaris makes the best cleaners on the market (unless you want to spend more than $900) and the Polaris 280 is the best cleaner Polaris makes. I’ve owned 3 Polaris poolsweeps and here’s my story. I bought a Polaris 180 in 1982 and it worked great for ...

380 No 180 Yes

by   dougholland ,  Mar 18, 2009
Pros: Works very well when it runs.
Easy to maintain.
Easy to empty.
Cons: Very poorly constructed, breaks a lot, requires booster pump, requires frequent repair.
The Bottom Line: I would not recommend the Polaris 380. It is poorly manufactured and requires frequent service, which the Polaris 180 did not.  This is probably my last Polaris product
Review: We purchased a Polaris 180 in 1999.  Mr. 180 was great he cleaned well and had few problems.  When the booster pump quit we were compelled to change everything (just based on age) in 2006.  We purchased a 380. Installation was ...

Installation a mystery

by   twaugh5 ,  Jun 12, 2007
Pros: No benefits I can other than spending close to $2,000 for pool cleaning system.
Cons: Costly and complicated.
Review: My wife bought the 380 with booster pump based on the pool company salesperson claiming it is simple to install. It certainly seemed otherwise to me. In opening the boxes I found aboslutely no instructions at at all. So, as first look it certainly ...
