Pokémania - Fad, or Fantastic?
Pros:
Excellent RPG, even for adults, not as kiddish as it seems.
Cons:
Have to play with a friend to get all, or have both versions yourself.

Author's Review
When I first heard about Pokémon, it wasn't as popular as people would think. No. When I first heard about Pokémon, it was called 'Pocket Monsters Red', 'Pocket Monsters Green', and 'Pocket Monsters Blue' for the game boy. Released only in Japan, it came out around '93. The game had an interesting concept, and one I found to make an interesting RPG, but sadly, it never came out here.
So, naturally, when I heard of 'Pokémon Red' and 'Pokémon Blue', I had to try them out. As an RPG fan - I was not disappointed.
The objective of the game seems simple. You have a few of them, in reality.
1: Defeat the Elite 4, and your 'rival' on Indigo Plateau.
2: Find Mewtwo, and the 3 legendary birds, successfully.
And of course:
3: Collect all 150 pokémon.
Unlike some believe, the Pokémon TV show came /after/ this game was made. The game seems simple, but you'll find yourself, if you really like RPGs, or games of this genre, staying up a few extra minutes at night 'just to evolve my Charmeleon'.
A hit game, whether or not it launched the phenomenon. I mean, seriously - would you stop playing Final Fantasy just because they recently released their /own/ card game? =)
