Product Review

Works fine with Vista

by   fredbear34 ,   Feb 17, 2007

Pros:  Low CPU requirements. Easy to use. Better quality than cheaper products.

Cons:  Plextor support is a bit lacking.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

Someone else here says the Plextor PX-M402U does not work with Vista. Well, I beg to differ. As soon as I plugged my Plextor into my Vista Ultimate box, Windows automatically downloaded the correct device driver (v2.3.0.3). I then installed the WinDVD Creator V2 software (which is old) that came with my Plextor. Works perfectly.
I only use this for MPEG2 captures. Picture quality is perfectly ok for single pass compression. If you want really high quality you will need to use multi-pass software compressors and capture at a very high bit-rate.
