The analogue to digital conversion is very nice. The hardware level conversion makes matters simple enough to where all one's computer must do is store the data stream from the device onto a hard drive. The multiple formats you can have the device encode into are quite useful for backing up those old VHS tapes that degrade play after play onto a more lasting media (optical media). I would recommend this for anyone who wants a fast simple way to convert their antiquated media into a more lasting and HQ format (not that it will improve the quality of the existing video...it just will look just like it was on the other media). It preserves the quality of your media very well. And lastly it has good aesthetic qualities: a brilliant blue-colored LED and a nice silvery gray case that goes with almost everything.
