Garbage

Date of Review: Feb 19, 2008

The Bottom Line:  Do not buy Pioneer products as they are very poor quality. I would spend the extra on a better name brand like Alpine or Clarion....Stay away from Pioneer.
I bought this 2 years ago to replace a burned out Ford factory unit. At first the unit performed o.k., however, it took a lot of fine tuning to get the desired sound from CD and radio. Also, different genres will need adjusting to get optimum sound reproduction.
After two years of light usage the volume knob broke and cannot be fixed. I called Pioneer customer service and they couldn't care less about the problem. They told me I could drive two hours into the sticks to have it looked at. I definitely would not buy any Pioneer products ever. I have never has had an aftermarket car stereo break until now. For the money I would stick with Alpine or Clarion. Pioneer products appear to be overpriced garbage they compare with the likes of Jensen. I called Pioneer again and they wanted almost $30 for a replacement knob and $10 to ship it. I told them I would try to glue the knob which has worked so far. Taking radio apart confirmed my suspicions.....Pioneer products are cheap and poorly made with very cheap plastic parts prone to breaking. I would definitely spend the extra on better brand if you are considering a Pioneer.
