Great functionality, but horrible if you burn your own DVDs....

The Bottom Line: Its not perfect, but its the best DVD changer out there at the moment. The others can't compare to its features and ease of use.
I bought this because i burn DVDs all the time. Most of us who do this attain a larger collection over time, and we look to get a changer to make it easier to view the DVDs. I tried the Sony version out, but hated the user interface... you can only scan one dvd at a time, and it is larger.
This unit is smaller and is more intuitive, also allows you to search by more than one DVD at a time - AND it remembers DVDs... so when you take one out and put it in somewhere else, it retains its information.
The downside - it doesn't play burned DVDs very well. for some reason it plays SOME dvd's i've burned but not all. I can never predict if it will play it or not - there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it working or not. its not the brand, as sometimes it will play maxell and sometimes it won't. Sometimes it will play Sony and sometimes it won't. Its not the burner, because i have two different ones (at different speeds), and it will sometimes play discs burned by each...
The upside is it does play DVDs you purchase very well - 100% well. i can't figure out why the component video looks so crappy though - i was also excited about the component video but it ended up appearing all red and digitized. i ended up going back to composite.
can someone tell me why they limit it to only twelve characters for movie titles? honestly, would it kill them to put slightly more memory in there?
