AVIC-S1 a Disappointment

I purchased my Pioneer after reading the very limited, but positive, reviews. Yes, it is easy to use; however the database is VERY inaccurate in Central Texas and in Western Oregon. The device turned me improperly on numerous occasions; several times telling me to get off a major thoroughfare in favor of a two-lane highway. It also got completely messed up in directing me to a particular address in Waco, Texas, telling me to turn around after it had been directing me to continue on the present road for four miles! I called Pioneer last fall and was promised a software update in early 2007. I called last week and was told no update is forthcoming at this time. Had I known that, I would have purchased either a Garmin or Magellan, both of which do a better job of keeping their software updated. I did buy from a trusted site, "Hooked On Phonics", but cannot blame them. I just wish I had not purchased the extended warranty since I will have to replace this product with one more reliable. I would not recommend purchase of this product. My daughter purchased a Garmin that is much more accurate with directions.
