Author's Review
I always thought perfumes were not for me. Most were too florally and I felt like I was drowned in stuff that I wanted to wash off immediately. Finally in my late 20's/early 30's I started looking around more, and trying a wider variety of perfumes ....
And then I never looked back.
One of my very favorite overall scents is Victoria Secret Pink.
So How Did I Find Victoria Secret Pink?
My husband purchased it for me one year for my birthday. No, it's not typical for him to purchase me perfume of any kind ... he knows how many duds I had found and how very picky I was. However, once I found "a few good ones" he often complained that "everything I wore smelled like food" - meaning all were candy or bakery type scents.
He said he went into Victoria's Secret one holiday and smelled all their perfumes, and settled on Pink because it looked girlie but it smelled like a more grown up fruity scent.
How Does One Describe Victoria Secret Pink?
The 2.5 ounce bottle is thin and pink. It's very simple and yet very effective. (It also comes in other sizes, though the bottle shape changes)
The smell is mainly a sophisticated grapefruit to my nose, though I've asked others who know this scent and/or wear that and that's not always what they notice.
Description From www.perfumeemporium.com:
"Think bright, effervescent. Think Sophisticated. Sexy. Modern. Confident. Playful. Dab it on. Expect the unexpected. Think modern blends of artemesia, Neroli flower, peony, freesia, bergamot, mandarin, violet leaves, juniper berry, and muguet."
More Thoughts On This Pleasing Scent
I do wear this scent year round, though honestly more in the warmer months, since it has lighter, fruity notes to me I don't wear it a lot in winter unless I want a pick me up or my husband and I are doing something special. I do wear it a lot specifically for him (dinners out, anniversary, etc) since it's one he picked out on his own and asked me to wear.
I notice that it can take on an almost soapy scent to it depending on what lotion or other scents you wear with it. I have found, through much experimenting, that often layering with the same scented lotion can almost be too strong - so I often layer this perfume with an unscented lotion, or my favorite option, a vanilla scented one. The combination of a nice vanilla blend with this perfume's fruity notes makes for a very nice fruity/foody blend to my nose that is long lasting but not overpowering.
It is moderately priced (for me) at around $40 for this size bottle, and it only takes a few light sprays for the scent to be noticeable.
I notice also that this spray lasts on my skin (and especially on my clothing) pretty well, though it seems to fade some on warmer days for me. It seems to react well with my skin and not change or morph into some other weird scent as the day wears on - I smell the same thing I sprayed on in the morning that I do at night, just lighter. I love how the fruity notes linger and that I am not left with a musk or floral tone.
I do recommend Victoria's Secret Pink EDP Spray for Women as an easy to purchase, fun, feminine spray that is designed I feel for women of many ages. It's nice to find a light perfume that's not overly floral, and that has nice fruity notes.
