HP 8750 Print Cartridge Cradle is Stuck

I've had a terrible experience with this printer. I don't think I've gotten even 20 pages to print. It tells me that the print cartridge cradle is stuck. I've been to the HP support site and followed all directions, but nothing has made the printer function (although the print cartridge does seem to move freely and not be actually stuck). Then it will say it's out of paper when it isn't. On the one occasion that I managed to eke out a photo print, I wasn't impressed with the quality.
