Not the best Philosophy product
Date of Review: Dec 18, 2007
The Bottom Line: Basically, if you are looking for a foundation primer, there are plenty that work better and are easier to use.
Let me start by saying I am a Philosophy fan. I started with the Supernatural products almost 10 years ago and continue to use a lot of their product currently.
I bought this product because I was looking for a moisturizing and mattifying long wearing makeup primer because I was getting married. I have very dry skin that will flake without enough moisture but also gets shiny, so from the description, I thought this was going to work perfectly. Fortunately for me, I tried it out before I actually tried to wear it!
I like the way it smelled - like rosemary - but immediately the consistency worried me. It felt like a waxy thick substance not unlike Elmers glue. Not to be discouraged, I applied it as directed, after my moisturizer, and then let it soak into my skin for a full two minutes (as required). It did feel heavy on my skin, but then again, I was looking for perfection so I didn't think too much of it. Then I attempted to apply my makeup. BIG problem.
My makeup caked up and would not blend. The more I tried to blend it, the more it caked and almost balled up. I ended up having to actually wash my face and start over, it was that bad.
Basically, it was a huge disappointment for me. Maybe I didn't use it right, but I think the average woman should be able to use it without special instructions - it isn't a professional only product. I think that if maybe all I needed to do was pat on some powder or nothing else, it would be fine, if a little heavy. Unfortunately, if you need a little foundation in order to even out your complexion, this is not going to work.
