I bought it twice
Pros:
Handles Tivo; Easy to set up; low price
Cons:
Feels fragile, buttons are small; button labels are hard to read
The Bottom Line:
For the price it is a good choice and it gets the job done. But its not flashy at all.....

For $25 dollars this remote gets the job done.
I found myself miserable jumping from control to control, so I went to Best Buy and Circuit City to find an answer. What I saw were about a dozen different choices in both stores. I saw one for close to $80 with a digital screen. Too much for me, my wife would kill me. I saw one for $9.99, too cheap, and it could only control 4 devices; so I when I saw this Philips remote, 8 device WITH Tivo compatibility (If you don't know what TIVO is, consider a different model) for only $24.99, I jumped at it!
Once I took it home setup was a snap. All you do is pull out the device code sheet, find your device manufacturer and device then press Code Search till the red light stays on, then you punch in the code listed on the sheet. You repeat the process for up to 8 devices. I was up and running within 5 minutes. (It has a memory function that will keep the codes set when you change the batteries)
Don't expect this remote to handle every function your TV\DVD\VCR\Tivo\cable box may have. But so far only my TVs picture in picture mode is lost, but since I hardly use it, I can live with it.
It works pretty well with a TIVO Series 2 box as well. It even has the thumbs up\down buttons. I can also use the TV guide and record functions with ease.
I take the remote, press the TV button, press the power button (TV is now ON). I press the DVR button, then press the Power Button and it jumps me to the TIVO menu, I pick and watch my shows¦........ Now I want to watch a DVD, so I press the TV button, select the DVD line, then I press the DVD button, press the power button, then the play button, and I'm ready to go! All that with one remote, compare that with 3 remotes, a soda in one hand and chips mixed up with the remote. I don't think I could go back to the old way. (This remote can also "learn" anykey from your original remotes)
Now the shape of the control is not the best. For me it feels a little too thin and light. Most of the time I use the controls on the bottom of the remote for my Tivo, and the remote constantly tries to slip out of my hands.
The labels for each button is a little on the small side. I have to squint to look for certain functions. I have had this remote for a few months now and from time to time I get confused to which mode I am in (TV vs. Tivo, etc), so its not fool proof.
Consider this......... I got so mad one day that I threw the remote on a carpeted floor and the insides blew up! I was without the remote for a few days and I was miserable. So I had to go back to Best Buy and put down another $24.99.
Quality wise, it does feel very light. I feel if I shake it too hard I may break it again, but I've learned my lesson. I am very gentle with my remote.
Did I mention it doesn't light up? Not too big of a deal, as the light from the TV gets me by.
