Terrific all-around remote!
Pros:
Controlled all 4 devices on my entertainment rack. Easily programmed. Economical.
Cons:
User must work a little bit to puzzle out the button usage for complicated devices.
The Bottom Line:
It is an efficient, economical remote that does what you want it to do, and then some.

Author's Review
Recently purchased a Pioneer DVR-533H-S and could never find a "universal" remote control that would control it... until I was lucky enough to stumble upon the Philips PM435S remote at a WAL-MART. It did everything! A particular feature I liked was the volume control "punch-thru" options, using the TV volume control for everything. (My cable converter insisted on using its own volume control before I selected the punch-thru feature.) The biggest problem is that the user manual does NOT give enough detail as to how to use the DVR buttons... the owner has to use "trial and error." For instance, the GUIDE button performs the TOP MENU action, the ENTER button performs the HOME MENU button, the TV/VCR button selects the input channel for the DVR, hit the RECORD button TWICE to start a recording, and the POWER button TWICE to stop it. To switch from the HARD DRIVE to the DVD, press and HOLD the DVD selector button down. Sounds very complicated, but it really isn't and the user "catches on" and remembers after only a few hours of use. One could, if desired, glue little labels to the buttons to help his/her memory. This little unit is a magnificent device at a very reasonable cost and WILL take the place of all the separate controls one owns.
