Pros: For a very short time this item worked well, apart from bad sound output.

Cons: Not repairable if it breaks, you cannot even purchase the parts.

I purchased one of these units 6 months ago for my daughter aged 9. It broke when she opened it after very little use. I sent it back, hopefully for repair under guarantee. The item was classed as "deliberate damage" therefore not repairable under gurantee. When I tried to pay for the repair myself I was told that no parts on this product were replaceable and no parts were available for purchase. This item is therefore not repairable. I certainly will not be purchasing another DCP850, or any other Philips item for that matter in future. I could have got another DVD player for half of this price paid but I decided to pay extra for the good Philips name. Times have changed.
