Philips Bodygroom BG2020 Electric Shaver

I saw a very humorous online advertisement at http://www.shaveeverywhere.com and decided to go ahead and buy it. I normally don't let gimmicky advertising persuade me, but for some reason this time it did. Anyway, this unit came already fully charged right out of the box, so I went to shaving. Shaving on dry skin I was fairly disappointed, so I hopped in the shower and lathered up on bar soap.

It takes several passes at a slow to moderate speed to completely get rid of hair. I started it out with my chest and had so much fun, that I stayed in the shower for a whole hour and shaved everything from the neck down to the hair on my toes. Yes, this unit held a solid charge the whole time and didn't show any hint of slowing down until I was already finished. After passing the razor over think hair, it will tug just a little bit, at which point I simply wash away the wad of hair on the razor under running water. If you go too fast, it will also tug. After about 15 minutes of use, I got used to the proper way of shaving and I kept the tugging down to a minimum. And despite several passes over my skin, the unit did shave all the way down to a nice smooth surface - from tough hair like pubic and leg hair all the way to softer hair like armpits and lanugo (soft downy hair).

Now the bad news. Yes, I cut and nicked myself when shaving around my anus... twice. I learned my lesson real quick and I won't do that again. Besides, I don't have any plans on mooning anyone anytime soon anyway. Despite the excellent reviews about shaving your balls, I went extra slow down there because my guts told me so. I had no problems and now I'm as smooth as an apple. Also, invest in a good hair/lint strainer for you shower, because my bathtub looked like had just shaved the wool off a sheep.

I'm a 27 year old guy who's been a little fat for most of my adult life. I recently lost 30 pounds and have another 20 to go before I would consider myself sexy. I purchased this razor to shave my body so I can boost my self-esteem for my first visit to the beach in a very long time. And it works! I feel confident enough in my body to go to the beach tomorrow in a pair of speedos. Having nice, smooth legs and arms on a guy is no longer only for metrosexuals, water polo players, and body builders.

Overall, I am satisfied with my first and only use of this razor. Like dry razors, the same rules apply: doesn't work well when dry, doesn't work well using plain water. However, it works best when a lubricant is added between the razor and the skin such as bar soap, bath soap, or shaving gel. The unit performed spectacularly well when wet and submerged in water, and it feels durable when held in hand and dropped in the sink. I don't know how long the battery will continue to hold a full hour's worth of charge and I don't know how long before the razor begins to dull. I haven't yet read the instructions and the unit does not seem apparently easy or intuitive to replace the razor blades.
