Product Review

sleek little nightmare!

by   cinnamngrl ,   Jan 3, 2004

Pros:  good sound, good looks

Cons:  Time consuming, horrible service, bad software!

The Bottom Line:  avoid at all costs. Phillips is only riding the trend. There are serious problems with operating this player, and the company has no interest in the customer

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

The software and the service were so horrible that it took away from the decent sound and handsome looks. It does not have its own software. It uses musicmatch. Musicmatch is actually pretty good, expect for the portable device features. They never worked. My computer crashed over and over to boot. (subtle pun!). Musicmatch only provides email support on weekdays if you are a subscriber. The service people at Philips are really horrid. You wait on hold for 30 minutes to speak to someone with no direct knowledge of the device. You can literally hear him leafing through a pamphlet. Then they put you on hold for 15 minutes more, so that you can talk to an "expert" who smirks over the phone, giving you extensive directions and impatiently asking if you are there yet. The device does work like a removable drive so you can always drag and drop mp3 files one by one into the device. This is so time consuming, that it would be easier to go back to recording mixed tapes on my old sony 3 cd exchanger. I can't believe it cost $200 to be treated like dirt and have no control over the play list.
