SLEEK, AND MODERN

I bought this thinking it was an upgrade to the original CoolSkin razor, with the little packets, and it would provide a better shave. I had the 7735X and loved it. After the first shave I was very hacked up and was concerned about its use. The 8040 needs more finesse and does a good job once you figure out how much pressure to apply and how to hold it so you don't keep pressing the lotion button. I like that you can just pump in the new lotion if it empties in the shower. This one also seems to work well with regular shaving cream thereby saving on the costly lotion pump. The trimmer works well enough. The shaver is light so travellers will save those precious ounces in their suitcases. Overall the whole kit seems less sturdy than the older version. I am disappointed as I would have also moved toward the dry shaver for those days that I just need a quick shave. I have rethought that decision.

However, if Norelco would have made the older version with a better battery and found a way to use the new lotion pump but kept the old casing it would have been a better product. I believe that this would be true also of the dry razor they have just introduced, too.
