Wal-mart wonder; Good, but not the all time greatest.
Pros:
Vivid bright colors, good digital controls, 1080i for under a grand.
Cons:
Brightness uniformity problems, not the sharpest detail, shifting image, only one HD input.

Hard to beat at $992, in fact, it seems impossible to beat. The next closest "deal" is a $999 Panasonic from CompUSA, but that unit is vaporware (on their site, but not in stock anywhere). For an HDTV compatible entry level unit, it's worth every penny. However, sometimes you do get what you pay for. Brightness uniformity suffers and overall sharpness is a concern as well. Then again, I have only seen a single unit for long term testing. Manipulation of 4:3 content to fill the 16:9 screen is clean, but sometimes the image seems to inadvertently "shift", ever so slightly. Bright, good color, nice digital enhancement features do help. Most will be happy with this buy, but the more critical observers may want to spring another bill or two for something a bit better. This unit must be a TCL manufactured import from China, forced by the retail giant to hit it's sub grand pricepoint. Still, hours and hours of nice viewage await.
