Product Review

BEWARE

by   spraydemon ,   Aug 5, 2008

Pros:  Good Picture & Sound when it works

Cons:  Can't watch a TV w/ no picture or sound

The Bottom Line:  Do not buy this TV if you do not want to repair it and wait months to do so. It looks and sounds great, but it will not last.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

I purchased this tv at Sam's ten months ago. I turned it off, went to turn it on & nothing but a black screen. My wife & I are well over 35, no kids, no pets. The TV has never been moved and does not have a scratch on it. Searched for a fix on the internet only to find out this problem is tagged "The Black Screen of Death" by other buyers. There is even a youtube video about it. The set was still under Philips warranty, so no problem. Uhhh, parts to repair the set are on long term back order. They will not even estimate a date. If I wait 35 days and call back they MAY do something, they won't say what. My only saving grace is that Sam's Club is taking the TV back. Great customer service! I am buying the number one consumer report rated Samsung LCD in its place from Sam's. Oh, Philip's plasma & LCD tv's have a terrible reliability & repair rate on consumer reports, last among the big brand TV makers. I should have checked before I bought. Do yourself a favor & buy a Samsung, Panasonic, Pioneer or Sony.
