Author's Review
When the local private Catholic school had a magazine fundraiser last January, I saw this as the perfect opportunity to justify to my husband I need People magazine! After all it was his friend's son selling them. I use to love to read People in the doctors' and dentists' office when I was younger, but haven't had much time lately to sit down and read anything, much less a magazine!
People magazine is a great one! The covers pictures are usually enough to grab anyone' who is slightly interested in this kind of magazines, attention. My friend subscribes to US, and it seems to be more cluttered than People. There is minor blips or interviews stuffed along the bottom edges of the pages, it just seems to cramped. It get confusing trying to figure out what you have and haven't read.
My favorite pages are in the beginning where they have candid snapshots of the stars doing normal everyday things: Eating, driving,
walking and talking. There is usually a shot or two of someone we haven't heard from in a while! This past week(October 23, 2000) there was a beautiful picture of Cindy Crawford and her 15 month old son Presley. I realize that many of the stars might not enjoy having their pictures taken while on "private" time, but the selfishness in me loves it!
The next few pages of the magazine are filled with book, television, movie, and music reviews. These are informative and serve me as a reminder to what is new and coming out! Next, comes the stories! It is usually filled with about 3-4 longer stories, complete with pictures, and many other 1 page easy to read stories. It has features on real people and famous people. It has a fashion page and a page where they tell you who is pregnant, who had a baby, who is getting married, or divorced, ect.
If you have time to sit and read for about 2 hours, this is for you. It also passes the time quickly on an airplane or in a car ride. The only downside I see is the cost. It cost about $3.00 an issue and comes out once a week.
