Unique ergonomics that started the side-click movement

Date of Review: Mar 29, 2004

The Quicker Clicker has been around for some time. It was the first mechanical pencil to use the side click advance mechanism which seems so common today. The popularity of this pencil can only be summarized by the number of "clone" side click pencils out there, both by competitors and Pentel. During all this time, it has undergone some changes. The first version I remember did not have the foam padding. Then came a version with a sliding sleeve that fully retracted into the pencil (I really miss that version! Why did they discontinue it?). Then the fixed sleeve version was reintroduced followed by the foam clad version with fixed sleeve we see today. One critisicm of the current version is that the fixed sleeve is too long for general notetaking. Although preferred by many people, I find that this sleeve length tends to cause too many incidences of lead breakage (But Pentel is in the business of selling lead as well!!!). If Pentel were to reintroduce the sliding sleeve version again, I would give this pencil a higher rating
  4.0
