Very Nice Photos

This is my first DSLR. My principal reason for buying this camera was that I had 5 Pentax lenses. While most information says this camera is compatible with old lenses, many features will not work with them. Only one of my A mount lenses works as expected. The camera cannot control the aperture in others which makes for a lot of trial and error on exposure.

Don't get me wrong - I love this camera. My girlfriend gave me all kinds of grief about buying it because it was much larger than my digital elph which I used to carry everywhere. Once she saw the pictures, she changed her mind. The controls are intuitive and the continuous shooting mode is more than fast enough for most situations. The built in flash is great for up to about 15 feet. On rechargeable batteries, this camera runs forever! I took 500 pictures on my last recharge and it still said the battery was half full (mostly without flash). You'll find that you don't use flash very often because of the great low-light performance. Combined with the shake reduction you have great pictures in your future.

My only regret is that I didn't buy the 10mp K10D but for $400 after rebate, you can't beat this camera. If I knew I was going to like digital SLR photography this much before, I probably would have spent the extra $200.

The 18-55mm lens that comes with the kit is great. Since my purchase, I've also bought a 70-300mm lens which I would recommend for outdoor shooting.

Honesly, I can't even use my elph anymore. The pictures from this camera are THAT much better.
