I can't imagine life without this!

I have owned one of these for a few years. I had owned other so-called electronic scales before this one that weren't worth carrying home. But this one has worked reliably for quite awhile. When the battery runs low - you just need a regular 9-V battery and it is easy to replace.

I use this in the kitchen, for sure - in figuring calories and ingredients - several times a day. My non-techie husband has gotten into the swing of using it, too - though it took a couple of promptings to remind him about the TARE feature. You put your empty container on the scale and push the tare key, which zeros out the scale. Then put your ingredient in the container and the scale records the weight of your item only - without having to adjust for the weight of the container. Okay, so that's cool - but consider this:

You're having a salad and you want to be real accurate in how much salad dressing your allow yourself. So you put your container on the scale full of salad - tare the scale out - then pour on the salad dressing. 2T = 1 oz - 1T = .5 ounce. You didn't have to dirty a measuring spoon, or guesstimate how much you were using - you know precisely how much dressing you put on your salad. And it was this discovery that lead me to purchase a second Pelouze scale this week. I plan to take it to work to use there.

Any wet ingredients could be parcelled out by repeatedly using the tare feature. I guess that's why the Europeans use weights in their recipes rather than cups like we do. You'll find more and more ways to use this scale, I have no doubt!

I also am a production knitter. I can weigh an item once it is complete to know exactly how much yarn I used. If I want to make another identical item and not sure if I have enough yarn - just weigh the item and weigh the yarn you want to use - you will know instantly if you have enough yarn or not! Woohooo!

I wouldn't be without this!
