Author's Review
We needed to purchase a lightweight umbrella stroller for our upcoming trip. After researching several strollers and testing them I finally settled on the Peg Perego Pliko Lite.
The stroller I was looking for had to meet the following criteria: lightweight, sturdy, reclining seat, 5-point harness, maneuverable with one hand, easy to clean and easy to fold. The following were my "nice to haves" but not necessary: cup holder, storage space and tray.
The Peg Perego met all of the criteria listed above some better than others.
Lightweight: The Peg Perego is made of lightweight aluminum thus making it very easy to lug around. I needed a stroller that I could carry with one hand especially when traveling through an airport. With all the stuff we have to carry, including the baby, this was a very important requirement.
Sturdy: I need a stroller that will last a few years. This stroller can be used for children up to 45 pounds so it will get a lot of use. Some umbrella stroller I tested when you put just a little weight on the seat (with no child in it) it would tip over. Imagine trying to get stuff out of the storage basket and the handles smacking you in the head. This does not happen with this stroller.
Reclining seat: The Peg Perego has 3 reclining positions, which can be changed fairly quickly. I wanted a stroller where my daughter could nap comfortably.
5-point harness: The Peg Perego has a 5-point harness thats easily adjustable. No fussing with straps trying to adjust to the proper setting. I wanted to make sure my daughter was securely in her stroller and that she couldn't easily wiggle her way out of the belt.
Maneuverable with one hand: The Peg Perego has wheels that swivel which makes it very easy to maneuver. I wanted a stroller that I can be easily push around with one hand, freeing my other hand for holding a cup of coffee, cell phone, etc. Since the wheels swivel I can move easily in and out of stores. No stopping to take a phone calls or sips a cup of coffee.
Easy to clean: Every one knows how dirty a stroller can get with all that fun baby stuff. The seat can be easily removed and washed.
Easy to fold: After you get the hang of how the stroller folds you can easily do it with one hand. A nice added feature is the handle so you can carry the stroller.
Cup holder: The Peg Perego comes with two clips where you can attach a cup holder. The cup holder can't hold any of those large beverage cups but will fit your standard cups, cans and bottles. The one drawback is once a cup is in the cup holder, pushing the stroller with two hands becomes slightly challenging.
Storage space: Although very small and a bit hard to get to (side access compartment) it fits my diaper bag perfectly. There is also one storage pocket in the removable canopy hood. This pocket is large enough to hold my clutch purse and a few other small items.
An added bonus, which I really love, is the removable canopy. It is long enough to shield your child's head from the rain and sun. Plus, as mentioned above, the extra storage pocket within the canopy.
All is all, I am extremely happy with this stroller. The most important thing is my daughter loves riding in this stroller. She is very comfortable in all three reclining positions and does not fuss too much when we are out and about.
