The Bottom Line:
A great alternative to the Ergo. Works very well for heavier children and is very comfortable to wear.

Patapum Toddler Carrier
I bought a Patapum toddler carrier as an alternative to the higher priced Ergo. I have not been disappointed at all, I really like the Patapum and couldnt imagine being any happier with an Ergo.
It is made of a really high quality fabric. I have a green/khaki colored one and it is really nice. My husband really likes the color too. It is highly adjustable I am 5ִ and my husband is 6ֶ and we both can comfortably wear the Patapum. It is easy to adjust too, which is great. Each adjuster strap also has a small elastic band sewn on so that the tail end of the straps can be rolled up and tucked in so they arent flapping around. The shoulder straps and waist band are both very well padded and quite comfortable. All of the straps and clips are high quality, I have no worry that they will break or anything while Im using the carrier.
The Patapum can be worn on your back or on your chest and is comfortable either way, even with heavier kids although with a taller kid on your chest, their head might get in the way. If you are alone and want to carry your baby on your back, the easiest way I have found is to do it from a sitting position. Put baby in with the carrier positioned on your hip (without the shoulder straps on), slip one shoulder strap on, then kind of slide it around to the proper position and slip on the other shoulder strap. It is pretty easy once you get it figured out.
When I bought my Patapum, it also came with a nice snap-on mesh hood to keep babys head from flopping when they fall asleep, as well as a little tiny diaper bag that threads onto the waist band. I LOVE the diaper bag. Seriously, I use it whenever I go out. It is so small, I can throw it into my larger purses or I can tuck it into the bottom of a stroller basket, etc
It is just big enough for a couple of diapers, a small travel bag of wipes, some disposal bags, and a tube of antibacterial hand cleaner.
The only bad thing I can think of with the Patapum is that it can get hot. But really, when you have a baby strapped to you in any carrier, you are probably going to get hot. Other than that, I love the Patapum and have definitely gotten my moneys worth.
