The Bottom Line:
If you're willing to pay a little extra for better image quality, go with this 3CCD camcorder

Author's Review
The Panasonic PV-GS150 is my first digital camcorder. I had a friend mention the Panasonic line of 3CCD cams when I mentioned I was looking. After reading numerous reviews, comments, and ratings, I finally went with the 150. I have been using it for three weeks now and I am very pleased. The color is incredible, the joystick control allows easy menu options access, the built-in digital camera is a plus, and the size is great. I love to scrutinize the colors when we play tapes back on our TV. Even the stills come out more vivid than our 35mm camera. Some have complained of the placement of the zoom button vs. the photo button, but both are easily accessible with the index finger, and the zoom seems to have about four speeds. The joystick control makes option selection easy, but the menu button itself is above the joystick and just out of reach for one-handed use. The default auto settings work fine for general recording, but the manual settings are available for the more experienced videographer. The built-in digital camera works well for being an extra feature of a camcorder. You can take stills during video recording AND playback (when paused) at the lowest resolution, or two other resolutions in still mode. Either way has resulted in great prints from our all in one printer (I've printed 4x6s and 3x5s), even though a digital camera will yield better prints (think about it: do you buy a dig. camera for the added "movie clip" feature instead of a camcorder?).
The size is light and compact and fits just right for one-handed operation.
I have had very little experience using the editing software; however, on my 650 mhz AMD Athlon system (far below minimum specs) I was able to easily edit a short clip.
