Fantastic Camera for the Pro as well as the amateur

Date of Review:  Oct 7, 2005
Review: The camera is light weight, powerful and I love the manual focus and zoom rings, I cannot stand power zooms, they take way too long and you usually miss the shot. This camera takes sharp images, I have not noticed the noise that one other reviewer...

Very, Very Happy With This Purchase

Date of Review:  Feb 28, 2006
The Bottom Line: Take time to research this camera AND dSLRs. The main thing that sets this camera above cheap dSLRs is its many features. Small sensor but takes GREAT pics.
Review: Although the noise is very apparent as you increase its ISO speed, you can be sure that keeping it on ISO 80 or ISO 100 will keep its quality levels up to that of its rivals such as dSLRs. Keep in mind this is a bridge camera (a class between...

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 - an image quality perspective.

Date of Review:  Nov 25, 2005
The Bottom Line: I can recommend this camera for its features, good lens, and ergonomics, but only to users who don't need anything more than ISO 100.
Review: Introduction

I'm still in search of a digital camera to use as a backup to my film cameras. So far, nothing but the most expensive digital SLRs have been up to the task. Compact digital cameras above five megapixels take fine snapshots for...

Fits a niche between pocket a camera and a DSLR w. many lenses

Date of Review:  May 23, 2006
The Bottom Line: I fretted over this purchase because of what I'd read about image noise, but after seeing the results I am more than happy.
Review: As a semi-pro (I try to earn enough from my photography to pay for my equipment ... or, at a minimum, my supplies :-)) I wanted a decent, portable, ultra zoom for use when I couldn't carry the heavy gear, but still wanted to bring back some decent...

Date of Review:  Oct 22, 2006
Review: I moved up from a 4 megapixel Canon(G3). I've always owned Canon cameras and I was nervous to stray into new brands. I was considering the Rebel above all others. After reading EVERY review I could get my hands on, I decided to buy the Lumix. I...

Ignore the noise about noise

Date of Review:  Nov 15, 2005
Review: If you read the many reviews of this camera, you can come away frightened by horrific stories of noise in the images. It's clear to me that the people writing these are so busy measuring statistics that they never have taken any real pictures with...

Excellent Camera Makes Others Look Like Toys

Date of Review:  Jun 18, 2006
Review: I was a big fan of the FZ20 (leader of the ultra-zoom 5MP cameras) and this is a great improvement on its predecessor. While image quality is about the same, the higher resolution, RAW format and MANY improvements to the body and features make it...

A small step up from the FZ15

Date of Review:  Dec 10, 2005
Review: I've been using the FZ30 for about a week now...image quality isn't much different than my FZ15. I do like the non-extending zoom and manual zoom ring. The tilt & twist LCD should have been mounted with side instead of bottom hinges, though, or at...

I'm very happy with the FZ-30

Date of Review:  Mar 15, 2007
Review: Having owned the FZ-30 for over a year now I feel fairly well qualified to give an informed opinion. First, I'll admit it can be noisy. Pictures taken in available light are noisy but, with flash, they become acceptable. Same goes for the high ISO...
