Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ30 digital camera You may not need a dSLR

by   Howard_Creech , lead in Electronics at Epinions.com ,  Sep 7, 2005
Pros: SLR style body, 12X Leica zoom, image stabilization, flip-down rotating LCD screen
Cons: Images are noisy, minor chromatic aberration, underpowered
The Bottom Line: The FZ30 has it all -- 12X image stabilized Leica zoom, 8 megapixels, and SLR like ergonomics
Review: The Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ30 replaces the very popular FZ20. Panasonic's product development folks designed the FZ30 to include most of the improvements requested by users and all the best features of the FZ20. What's New? How does the FZ30 ...

This Camera makes taking pictures Super FUN!

by   windahdah ,  Dec 6, 2005
Pros: Lens quality, image stabilized, 12X Zoom, No Lag, Fast On, many more
Cons: Ummmm....Not much. High noise in low light I guess.
The Bottom Line: The best camera you can get for the money. Buy one and you'll be telling all your friends to get one too.
Review: I recently purchased a Panasonic FZ30K and I must say I am super happy with the camera and my choice. I won't bore you with the technicals (there are plenty of those reviews out there) but I will say what makes me love it so much and go over a few key ...

Know your equipment, it's AWESOME!

by   cbizservices ,  Apr 7, 2006
Pros: You already know the great features. 12X zoom, 8MP, etc.. no need to repeat.
Cons: EVF a little slow, but okay after getting used to it.
The Bottom Line: Buy this camera, and if you haven't taken a decent picture before, this will make you look like a pro!
Review: After researching and comparing this camera (fz30) with others in this price range and higher, I decided to buy the Panasonic DMC FZ30. After two weeks of picture takin’ and putting the camera through some of it’s many features, (it has features ...

Functionality of a DSLR

by   adamator ,  Jul 18, 2006
Pros: Manual controls, zoom, speed, stabilization, quality
Cons: Noise, low light performance
The Bottom Line: Excellent for intermediate photographers who either want more flexibility, or want to eventually move up to DSLR.
Review: After having taken a few thousand images with this camera so far, I think I can easily recommend this camera to anyone who either is unsatisfied with their point and shoot camera, or is looking to move up to a DSLR but does not yet have either the cash ...

Very, Very Happy With This Purchase

by   pro_janitor ,  Feb 28, 2006
Pros: Zoom, Great lens, Good for beginners and pros.
Cons: Slow USB speed from camera, Zooming not fluid in lower resolution modes, EVF
The Bottom Line: Take time to research this camera AND dSLRs. The main thing that sets this camera above cheap dSLRs is its many features. Small sensor but takes GREAT pics.
Review: Although the noise is very apparent as you increase its ISO speed, you can be sure that keeping it on ISO 80 or ISO 100 will keep its quality levels up to that of its rivals such as dSLRs. Keep in mind this is a bridge camera (a class between regular ...

Excellent camera and an incredible deal

by   ns1991 ,  Dec 28, 2005
Pros: Leica lens alone costs five times that much!
Cons: relatively bulky
The Bottom Line: A very good camera, incredible lens, a terrific deal.
Review: My background is mechanical and semi-automatic SLRs. My primary film camera is Minolta Vectis S-1, a semi-automatic APS SLR. There's also a Nikon FM-10 when I feel like B&W. I usually print pictures in standardt size, enlarge the ones I like. I would ...

by   bear740 ,  Jan 20, 2006
Pros: The camera is near perfect, great lens, great exposures, easy to use. Must buy!
Cons: Larger Sensor on next model for higher ISO settings
The Bottom Line: Must buy, just a fantastic camera, most amateurs will think they died and gone to photo heaven. Most Professionals will love to use this camera for most shots.
Review: I have had my FZ30 now for 3 months, I have put the camera through a plethora of situations, it has come through with flying colors. Since I did professional Photography as a Hobby and second income, have my professional license, I have argued with one ...

Great for an enthusiast

by   alexio ,  May 28, 2006
Pros: Optics. Features. Form factor.
Cons: Movies are recorded in Quicktime format! Battery could have a bit more capacity.
Review: I was thinking about a Digital SLR replacement for my Good old Minolta, hoping that I can get some use for my lenses... Tough luck, with Minolta never living to the expectations and pulling off the market. Anyways, when facing the dilemma of getting ...
