Microwave does what it says.
Date of Review: Jan 8, 2008
The Bottom Line: I love this unit. It is large at 2.2 cu ft. Combine this with sensor cooking and you can heat several dishes and have them come out perfectly heated
When we needed a new microwave I started to research what was out there as we hadn't looked for a microwave oven in a long time. We eventually ended up with the Panasonic NNSD797S, but I have to say in the beginning Panasonic was not even in the realm of possibilities. Not that I have anything against Panasonic. It's just that when I think of Panasonic I think of TV's, radios etc.
I started by reading reviews of microwaves and after going through several I came up the one by Kubotabx on the Panasonic. I was impressed. This person had written a pretty long review. Someone who would take the time to write such a detailed review must really like the product.
My wife and I discussed it back and forth. We weren't quite sure if we would like a microwave that uses a dial to set times instead of a key pad. We weren't against it, but we weren't for it either. We just didn't know.
Also I don't like to go by just one persons opinion so I went to other review web sites and was able to find 4 more reviews on the exact same model. These reviews were not as long, maybe a paragraph or two but they were all very positive.
We then started our foot search buy going to the local stores to see the microwaves in person. In our area that would mean stores like Kmart, Target, Lowes, Home Depot etc.
Surprisingly we didn't see any panasonics in these stores. They had plenty of other brands but not panasonic. We eventually made our way down to Best Buy and they did have panasonics and in fact they had the exact model we were looking for on display. After playing with it for a little while we ended up purchasing it and we couldn't be happier. It heats in about half the time of our old machine. The sensor cook and reheat features work great. No times to set. Just push the button and let the machine do it's thing. I've tried it on oatmeal, reheating a bowl of soup, leftovers you name it. The food seems to come out just how you would want it every time. It's not overly hot and it's not to cold. It comes out perfect, ready to eat.
The machine also heats food very evenly, no hot spots to scorch your mouth.
We have come to love the dial whenever we need to set a time. It's so fast and it turns so easily and depending how fast you turn the dial the times moves incrementally or speedily, It's up to you. Just a great unit.
