Nice compact for the average user but has some flaws
Date of Review: Feb 17, 2009
The Bottom Line: If you just want an inexpensive compact camera for daily use this camera does fit the bill. However for the more serious photographer, you may not be satisfied.
Overall it is a decent camera for the average user and the price is great. I like its compact size and the LCD display is great. Picture quality is great when the lighting condition is perfect. And I really like the video feature on this camera. The microphone seems to pick up sound well. It also has a stabilizing button which I'm not sure if it actually helps. Other features that may be helpful is a print mode, allowing you to print from your camera. It does have a macro mode for up close pictures. This mode seems to work ok. In addition to your regular point and shoot mode, it has a Scene mode feature. This allows you to choose from various types of environment conditions. Sports, Baby, Snow, Scenery, Soft Skin, etc. In addition I do like the timer shoot feature. You can choose from a delay of 3 sec. or 10 sec.
Though this camera does fulfill the majority of my day to day photo needs it does have some flaws. When the lighting conditions are less than perfect I often have a hard time getting the right exposure, especially indoors. Sometimes using no flash indoors seems to be the best exposure, but without the flash it is difficult to get your photos sharp. I tend to get a lot of blurry images. Usually flash is a quick fix for that but often times the result is a nicely exposed foreground with a very dark background. One other complaint is the narrow field of view.
Despite its flaws its still a good compact daily camera for the price you pay. Its fairly user friendly and the video feature is definitely a plus.
