Terrible Audio

This telephone was given to me as a gift. I have telephone conferences quite often from home and needed a telephone with a speaker phone among other features. When I first took the telephone out of the box, I was quite excited reading about and seeing all of the features. Unfortunately, it soon became clear that the speaker phone was the only feature that worked well. The audio on the handset is terrible even when the volume is turned up high and the booster is turned on. I can barely hear the person on the other line, and the other person definitely cannot hear me, so I end up shouting and keeping conversations to a minimum when using this telephone. Our best telephone in the house is a cordless Sony that's about 8 years old. Our kids have dropped the handset numerous times but it still functions perfectly. Best of all, you can actually hear the person on the other end of the line and don't have to shout to be heard. What a concept. Don't buy this Panasonic model, and if you receive it as a gift, hopefully it came with a gift receipt so that you can return it.
