Never looked back!

I've lived in this house for 4 years now and have owned 4 different phone systems. I've tried VTech, Uniden, a no-name brand, and now the Panasonic, and this will be the last that I'll purchase.

I used 2.4 GHZ for years with regular telephone service and VOIP service from my cable company. 2.4 GHZ interferes with my wireless internet, so both the person on the other end of the line and I suffered with hissing and drops in the call where someone's voice disappears for a split second. Sometimes I'd have to sit perfectly still in order to have a decent conversation without interference. And heaven forbid you use the microwave while talking with one of these: nothing but static!

5.8 GHZ somehow drops just my end of the conversation to the caller, so while I can hear them, they're constantly saying, "What?" and "Are you still there?" Unacceptable.

Panasonic's 6.0 with DECT is PERFECT. The sound quality is as though the person were sitting in the room with you. I can move anywhere in the house or yard without so much as a flicker in service. In fact, I would say that the farthest I've gone is about 100 feet from the main unit, and it still sounded like I was right next to it on both ends of the line. I can even use the microwave while on the phone with no issues! Impressive!

I had little confidence that it would work this well -- I purchased two systems "as-is", used on eBay because I didn't want to commit to buying a full-price system if it was going to work like all the others. I expected to have to replace the batteries by now, but I've been able to talk for over two hours and still have plenty of charge left in one handset. In fact, I've never run out of battery on any of the handsets, and they charge rapidly. Knowing that someone else had used (and possibly abused) these phones before me, I'm quite impressed with the battery life!

The features are great: the message indicator light is handy, and it works with its own answering system or my voicemail from Comcast. I love not having a phone-sounding ringtone, as Panasonic thoughtfully included many songs to choose from for whenever the phone rings. The menu is intuitive and extensive, but sometimes a bit too much to go through to turn the ringer off, though.

The one feature that I miss (and I notice many people miss) is the light-up keypad. Dialing in the dark is impossible with these phones, and you'd be surprised how many times you want/need to do that. If you can live without it, this is the phone system for you!
