Great phone, some improvements could be made.
Pros:
Cost. Easy set up. Tech Support. User interface. Msg Alert.
Batteries.
Cons:
Phone Naming. No Broadcast speakerphone ability.
The Bottom Line:
For $114 dollars, 4 phones, I would recommend it. With anything you buy, there will always be improvements.

I am replacing my 2.4Gz V-tech Gigaphone because the answering machine wouldn't turn off unless you unplug it, the time always gets out of sync after a day(even though I have caller id), one of the batteries died, and its only about 3 years old. The new V-tech Dect 6.0 phones looked cool and got some decent reviews, but I couldn't bring myself to purchase another v-tech after that experience.
I was convinced by other websites that the Panasonic Dect 6.0 version was worth trying, but they didnt have them at Samsclub(Cosco like place). So I decided to just the Uniden 5.8Gz @ Sams, price was right, user interface was well done, though the batteries would not last long at all(at the end of the day they would be down to one bar with very minimal use), so I returned it. I also read somewhere that the 5.8Gz range was going to be allocated for some wireless video streaming. So luckily, when I returned the Uniden to Sams they had some Panasonic Dect 6.0 (4 handset phones) in stock, at a decent price($114). It was very easy to set up, the time updates automatically when someone calls. Speaker phone works great and it is much clearer than my 2.4Gz Vtech. The batteries are replaceable - don't have to go buy a special "v-tech" pack.
I have seen a couple people complain about the easy of scrolling thru the caller id 'missed call' list, you don't actually have to hit the menu button to access it, just hit right on the circular pad instead, then you are good to go. Battery life and range seem good so far, hasn't dropped below 3 bars yet with normal use.
Some people have complained about range, I think this is all subjective and depends on where they place the phone, and at what frequency it operates in. Any phone will have interference, if something is blocking the signal or disrupting it, it will get static. I have the phone placed rather poorly at one corner of my basement, and I have good reception until I walk to my neighbors house or go outside where the signal has to travel thru multiple walls/objects.
There are some improvements that can be made. You can't name phone 1 - "Family Room". (Uniden phone supported this). So that renders the intercom feature sorta useless - unless you can remember when # is associated with what room. (Im over 30 with two kids - my brain doesn't have room for that.). It also doesn't seem to support the broadcast / speaker phone feature... ie - can't tell everyone its time for dinner thru the phones, though maybe I just need to play with it some more.
At first I thought the message alert didn't work(this is the one where it blinks and notifies you if you have a message from your phone companies voicemail service). For all you tech support types - Yes - I enabled the feature - did that on all 4 phones(and yes - I know there is a message waiting). I actually called Panasonic (and talked to someone english speaking!!) and they were very helpful / knowledgeable. Apparently there are two ways the phone system can support this feature - they either listen to the pulsed tone - that we all hear - or they listen to something called a frequency shift key (FSK). According to Panasonic my phone company isn't sending out the FSK. I called the phone company and confused them, but after it got to an actual level 2 tech guy, they were able to fix the problem. So to make a long story short - this phone doesn't listen to the audible tone(older ones do), and you're phone company may not support the FSK key. The alarm clock feature is ok - however, it doesn't have a "Monday-Friday" setting.
Overall, I'm happy with it, but with anything it could be better.
