Pros: Compatible with all current DVD formats, including Dual-Layer discs, Packed with features, Great price!
Cons: Limited editing capability, Confusing user guide.
The Bottom Line: The DMR-ES35V meets my needs and has been trouble-free so far. That's all I can ask, especially given my past experience with DVD recorders.

Review: In my quest for the ultimate DVD recorder, I ve gone through a couple different models. Will the DMR-ES35V meet your needs? Is it an improvement on previous Panasonic models? Let s start with some basics on DVD recording.

Cons: Video quality blurry; bad closed captions. Software does not Stop, Eject, or Power Off reliably.

Review: First unit had software problems where it would not respond, or would respond incredibly slowly, to button commands from either the front panel or the remote. Took over a minute to eject a tape or DVD. Returned. Second unit had bad DVD deck, could...

Pros: Cost. Basic functionality. Awesome "Jet Rewind" feature. Decent quality machine. One button VHS->DVD copy operation.
Cons: The manual is indecipherable, but entertaining. Unit is not for high-end, slick DVD production.
The Bottom Line: If you want a moderately priced standalone unit of decent quality to copy VHS tapes to DVD, I highly recommend this unit.

Review: I have a bunch of family video VHS tapes recorded between 1988 and 1995 that I wanted to move to DVD before they deteriorated or before VHS recorders became impossible to find.
I decided to get a combined VHS/DVD recorder unit because I... |

Pros: Easy copy from VHS to DVD. Easy timer set-up. Quiet
Cons: Problems viewing DVD's recorded on another DVD recorder. D tray is "touchy".
The Bottom Line: We are really happy with this unit. If this unit is an indication on any newer units, I would buy Panasonic again.
