Nothing but headaches

This is the 3rd Panasonic DVD Recorders that I have used. My previous two Panasonic DVD recorders died after 14 months each. I do use them hard, but less than 18 months for a new recorder is bad. I sure do miss them, at least they worked. This unit has been nothing but trouble. I do like the VHS / DVD recorder combo idea and the ability to record from a SD Memory card. If it only worked.

I have used the VHS to DVD record mode. After a few misses, it finally worked. Also tried reading a SD card filled with family vacation photos to record to DVD. No luck here. It would only record the first picture and stop.

I get so many U61 errors, cycling ooooo oooo errors. Instead of pulling the plug when it decides it does not want to respond, I use a pen tip to force a hard reset. But I can't not describe the frustration this unit has caused. He literally destroys recordings. For instance, yesterday I recorded a 2 hr TV show for a total recording mode for 2 hours. When it was finished it turns the unit off. Which is fine. But when I go to finalize the disc. The machine spits out error after error, performs self check after self check. Heck it just finished recording. Yet it made the disc not usable. I have discarded so many DVD-R discs that this unit have made non-usable.
