Good Sound for Good price
Date of Review: Jan 24, 2004
The Bottom Line: I would recommend these headphones who wants good sound and comfort for a sufficient price.
Since I didn't really like my old headphones I decided to buy some new ones. I decided to check out the RP-HG20 - they seemed like a good pair for the price and they feature the 2 way style (headband and neckband). I was well pleased to find out they had very good sound quality, good comfort, and good price (less than $30 CAN).
Sound
The sound is very clear the bass is quite crisp. There was no evidence of interference or any excess noise. This model also features the neodymium rare earth magnet, which does produce rich and powerful sound.
Comfort
These headphones should fit fairly snug and tight for the headband style (which I prefer), it should fit on anyone's head and the earphones adjust nicely. The padded ear cups also add better comfort. You may not notice it in the picture but there are these permanent plastic clips that are meant to clip to your ears for the neckband style. I find these can can get annoying for the neckband style because your ears may get soar after a while. These clips however don't really affect the headband style so it should be okay. Also i find the neckband a bit loose, and may fall off during jogging or any similar activity. This is just me however.
Conclusion
These are some good headphones for the price and offer very good sound, and looks nice. As far as portability goes they might be a tad big, but they are strong and fairly durable. Some small things such as there is no gold-plated earphones plug (doesn't really matter, but gold has better conductivity) and the L-shaped earphone plug can get annoying if you are using an in-cord remote. This are small things however and I would recommend it to anyone who wants very good sound for a good price.
