The Palm m505 is Palm's stab at the high-end handheld market. I was amazed at the high quality of the design, and many 'optional' extras, such as a leather cover, includes in the box. Another plus for me was out-of-the-box Mac support, because I use the Mac and ONLY the Mac. The much-complained-about color screen seems great to me, 16-Bit color, but it is slightly dim. I wouldn't let that affect my buying decision whatsoever. The included software bundle is fantastic, including copies of the $50 Documents To Go, also $40 Photosuite. The m505 has 8MB of built-in memory, which is plenty for most people, but you can easily and inexpensively upgrade the memory using the SD expansion slot. You can also purchase Palm-branded SD/MMC cards, such as the Backup Card, and PalmPak Games Card, both of which I own and use all the time.
You can also add other extras, such as the PalmModem, and the folding Palm Portable Keyboard.
This Palm includes Palm OS 4, which offers significant performance improvements over the previous Palm OS 3.5. The 33Mhz processor is really fast. I can't imagine needing a processor any faster than this, but I bet somebody does. The battery life is excellent, lasting about 8 hours with backlight on, about 12 off. The reflective LCD is easy to view even in direct sunlight.
I would highly recomend this Palm device to anyone seeking a high-quality, top-end unit.
