Author's Review

The new Palm m125 is the next step in the "m" series of handhelds. This series includes the entry-level m100 and m105 as well as the upscale m500/505. As itÂ’s name implies, this device is in the middle. There are two main features that differentiate this from the m100/105 series - expansion capabilities with the SD (Secure Digital) slot as well as a better design quality and construction. Let me expand on both of these.

The SD slot allows you to plug in a near limitless array of software, backup (in the form of a 16 mb card) as well as an adapter that can connect hardware peripherals. This slot and the cards that go in to them are only the size of a postage stamp! Very light and easy to carry along with you - a huge advantage. I think this is a much better design and implementation than either the "springboard" modules on the Handspring Visors or even the "Memory Stick" on the Sony Clie devices.

The design - no other way to explain it other than it's rich and comfortable feeling in your hand. It's case and sides have a rubberized plastic rather than the hard plastic on the m100/105.

This device has all the new features and Operating System as the others in the "m" series with a couple of notable exceptions. It includes the new 33mhz "Dragonball" processor and it includes a copy of DataViz's Documents to Go software. This allows you to open, read and modify MS Office created documents. This software is really slick and easy to use and it allows you to sync frequently used documents so that you always have a copy of them on your handheld.

Overall, this product is a winner in my opinion, well worth the low price tag.
