So what is a PDA
if you know what a PDA is you might want to scroll down. PDA is short for personal digital assistant. This name was given to the first basic PDA's and kind of stuck. Today's PDA's are much for advanced and can offer email, pc information trading, sketching, and much more. PDA's are mainly used to manage contacts and appointments.
Why choose the Palm?
Today there is a wide range of PDA's to choose from. Casio has a great one out, and the new Macintosh digital organizers are hot on the block. Palm has always been a player in the PDA business. Their name is almost synonymous with PDA's. Almost anyone will know what you are talking about if you say "hey I have a new palm"
Palm m105 specs
The following specs have been taken from the palm website. If you wish to see all of them go to www.palm.com and look for the m105 specs sheet.
The m105 is 4.66" X 3.12" X .7" This is somewhat big for a PDA. I had trouble getting it to feel comfortable in my pocket. It weighs a light 6 oz. this is with the batteries installed. The viewing screen is an advanced LCD with backlight. It works great and can be viewed just fine in any light. However when turning the PDA sideways it becomes a bit difficult to view. The screen must be directly in front of you to view it correctly. This palm runs on Palm OS software version 3.5 not to many improvements from the last version, but to be honest why fix it if it isn't broke? The software includes an address book, date book, clock, to do list, memo pad, notepad, and a calculator. 8 megabytes of memory allows you to store thousands of addresses, years of appointments, and hundreds of notes memos and email messages. The m105 is equipped with an infrared port to transfer data to other palms. Finally graffiti software allows you to input type characters with the use of a sort of shorthand language. This language is easy to learn, but can be frustrating at first.
Accessories
Everybody needs accessories. What is the good of a plain old palm? Customize it and make it your own. Some of the available accessories include the palm glove, flip case, slim case, and the portable keyboard. My favorite would have to be the snap-on faceplates. These allow you to change the color of your PDA.
So what does it all mean?
There are no two people that will use a palm the same way. A good palm is customizable enough to fit anyone's needs. I believe the m105 fits this description to a tee. Combining high end technology with ease of use can be a difficult task, but palm has pulled it off with the m105
