Memo to self: Check out the goVox Voice Recorder

by   puskarich ,  Aug 28, 2000
Pros: Same size as the original Palm flip cover. Sensitive microphone and quality playback. Easy to use. Gives you the ability to capture thoughts and ideas - without having to use graffiti. Holds up to 99 messages or 8 minutes of messages
Cons: Does not work on the Palm Pilot Professional. No display to tell you which memo you are on. No volume control.
Review: Digital voice recorders aren't exactly revolutionary pieces of technology. However, LandWare's goVox Voice Recorder presents this technology in an intuitive manner.

The goVox voice recorder replaces the ordinary plastic flip cover on the Palm...

Great idea that actually works!

by   paradoxsm ,  May 28, 2003
Pros: Great audio quality, simple to use, works as intended, durable,
Cons: Annoying expensive Lithium batteries, a little bulky on palm,
The Bottom Line: Buy it if you have on of the older palms. it's a cheap dictaphone upgrade, never forget a thought.. enter it to palm later.
Review: A Great recorder. a little bulky when on the palm but it works really well. easy enough to use and nice and simple. stores upto 99 messages or 8 minutes which is ample for most needs. you can also take it off and use it like a Dictator while entering...

Sometimes Simple is Best!

by   RichBoston ,  Dec 4, 2000
Pros: Simple, Inexpensive, Works Great
Cons: No Volume Control or Message Counter
Review: By today’s high tech standards, especially for devices made to coincide with a PDA, which by its nature is “high tech,” the Landware goVox digital recorder is almost an anachronism. Don’t get me wrong. This is not necessarily a bad thing.

i-vox/GoVox digital recorder

by   krisjohn ,  Oct 12, 2000
Pros: Combines two devices into one.
Cons: Anyone who's not sure they'll use a digital recorder is probably wasting their money.
Review: Since I've started regularly creating comic strips and writing editorials and reviews I've been using a digital voice recorder to take notes and record ideas. I got it about a year ago to log events at work and its use has changed a couple of times...

Useful Add-on Voice Recording Unit at a Reasonable Cost

by   cmack2000 ,  Jul 25, 2001
Pros: Lightweight, Great for taking notes when you can't write, Does not use Palm's power
Cons: No capability to jump to a specific message, Slight bulk added doesn't always fit cases
The Bottom Line: A great add-on for busy individuals that always carry their palm with them, yet sometimes find themselves in situations where it is difficult to take handwritten or electronic notes.
Review: In the vast array of Palm add-on's the goVox Digital Voice Recorder is a truly useful one. The goVox is really no technological breakthrough, just a really smart idea, allow people to carry 'one' item, their palm and have both computing and voice...

Good, but could be better.

by   seronac ,  Sep 15, 2003
Pros: Good, small PDA system with a lot of additional programs available.
Cons: Stability and screen resolution could be better.
Review: Here are the basics: The Palm III is a good system, but there are much better ones out there now. You could probably get one for a great price now, but be prepared to squint a little at the screen and, if you like to try a lot of programs, for resetti ...

A Marriage made in Heaven!

by   rlmangum ,  Oct 6, 2000
Pros: Easy to use, looks like part of the Palm Vx.
Cons: Plastic case might crack. SEE UPDATE!
The Bottom Line: Bottom Line is I've changed my rating from Excellent to Average for the reasons mentioned in my update. Sorry for all you I may have "wrongly" influenced.
Review: UPDATE: The Play/Record buttons are forever getting bumped which either plays the last memo OR records the ambient noise (sometimes stuff you didn't want recorded) until it runs out of time! This has become such a pain that I no longer use it. It also...

Inexpensive Alternative to Batteries

by   brscott73 ,  Dec 1, 2003
Pros: 1) Easy to install 2) Saves money on batteries
Cons: 1) No warning before battery dies!! 2) Battery charge life is short
The Bottom Line: Recommended for the responsible person (to be consistent on charging) and is a good alternative to buying many batteries or a new Palm.
Review: I bought this new on E-Bay for $10. Came in an un-opened package. Installation was simple. A word of caution, however. Be sure to back-up BEFORE putting in the new batteries. They come with no charge and you WILL lose all your data. You must charge it ...

consider this...

by   Kevin_Stewart ,  Dec 15, 2000
Pros: records voice
Cons: a bit pricey
Review: a nifty little idea but I really was dissapointed. First off I thought isn't that ingenious a little recorder built into the case, but then it hits me, Whats the point. Can't you write your messages in the palm isn't that what it's for isn't that it's...
