Excellent Organizer and Gameboy Stand-in
Date of Review: Dec 2, 1999
Here's what I use my Palm Pilot IIIx for:
Work:
I use it to sync with Lotus Notes from home and on business trips. It's better than carrying a laptop around! I just plug in the modem and there's my mail!
Home:
I keep track of doctor's appointments and meetings. The alarm reminds me to get to work when I'm feeling lazy!
I play all sorts of games. I'm an old school gamer. I like playing 'Rogue'. Remember 'Rogue'? I also put in annoying client's names in the voodoo doll and stick them over and over. What stress relief!

The Palm IIIx has more memory than the Palm III which just allows you to put more junk on it. I highly recommend AvantGo (www.avantgo.com). It's a news reader among other things. It keeps you up to date on news and events, as well as TV listings from gist.com.
You can sync up with your desktop at home or at work. I keep my shopping list from there. My roommate e-mails me the list and it's just cut & paste and then sync it up!
And then there's the games. I don't play them at work. Nope, never.
It's smaller than my old paper organizer (which didn't have an alarm) and it keeps my phone numbers for friends and family at my fingertips.
It eats batteries quickly, so make sure to get high quality batteries like 'Duracell Ultra'.
It costs from $290 to $330. I recommend going to www.pricewatcher.com and entering Palm Pilot IIIx at the command line. It'll get you the cheapest price. Do not get it on Ebay. It's never cheaper there.
