Author's Review
Eastwood, for all purposes seemed retired from movie making till "Pale Rider" after nine long years he returns. He not only starred in this one, he directed it.
An unusual story of a town full of fearful gold miners, and the mean ugly tyrant that wants to exploit the gold and run everyone else out of town. Interesting way of mining if you will notice. In walks the "Pale Rider", dressed as a Preacher, he's just what the young girl(Nina Peoples) prays for. Or is he?
Determined to have his way, the villain hires a top gun Marshall, who isn't a Marshall, but sports a small army of top guns to rid the town of vagrant miners.
None other than John Russell(Lawman) is our real killer. He's got a whole army backing him up, so he's not so heroic.
All the women in this one are in love with "The Pale Rider", but he's a man with a mission, and once his job is done, he rides off into full daylight.
Is he a ghost, or is he real. We'll never know.
Entertaining, classic Eastwood acting.
