pageants are wonderful

I did my first pageant at age 16 after a dare from a friend. I instantly become hooked. I have always loved to perform(dancing since age 4, singing since Jr high, acting etc..) Although I loved to entertain I still suffered from lower than average self esteem and low self confidence. Pageants have given me confidence and brought me out of my shell. I am not a show off nor am I promiscuous in any way. People who say that pageants are deemening are making snap judgements and that is wrong. Everyone is entittled to an opinion but you do not need to put down those that are different than yours.
Pageants have taught me to work hard for a goal, and to be proud of my accomplishments. I have gained interview skills, self confidence and more courage. They are NOT all based on beauty, they are based on being the best person you can be. In all aspects of life. The swimsuit portion is not demeening. Physical fitness means you care enough about yourself, your body and your health to put effort into taking care of yourself. The most important thing that pageants have taught me is to be a gracious winner and loser.
Pageantry is a fabulous magazine. I also subscribe to Patsy's but Pageantry is much better for Miss and Ms systems. It has great articles, pictures, tips, interviews and a calander of upcoming events. I would definitely reccomend that anyone who is involved with pageants, is thinking of doing one or would like to learn more pick up an issue.
