Product Review

Informative and very detailed.

by   photopat ,   Jan 18, 2000

Pros:  Informative about all areas of photography

Cons:  Very technical. Not a light read.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

Photo Techniques is a very useful resource for professional and serious amateur photographers, if they are comfortable with detailed technical diagrams. Some photographers (such as myself) are less technical in the way they work, preferring to be more intuitive, and truthfully some of us simply aren't cut out to be lab technicians and don't work well with densitometers and D-max graphs.

Still, even if the product analysis articles aren't your cup of tea, there are useful news pieces, and it is helpful to at least find out what others think of the newest film/paper/developer on the market. There are also camera tests and very interesting articles on alternative-non silver printing processes and photography history.

Basically this is, as I said before, a useful resource. It's not the liveliest magazine, but it does it's job well and is interesting to just leaf through occasionally.
