You Thought Your Life Stunk

I love a good comedy and knew that this was a movie that I had to have. Of course what drew me in was that the bride was killed on her wedding day by an ice sculpture of an angel. Yes it was my own sometimes morbid sense of humor that won out and urged me to purchase this movie.

Over Her Dead Body is about Kate (Eva Longoria Parker) getting ready for her wedding and being killed by a ice sculpture of what was supposed to be an angel before she can make it down the isle. Kate's fiance Henry (Paul Rudd) gives up on romance until his sister Chloe (Lindsay Sloane) talks him into going to a psychic Ashley (Lake Bell) in hopes that she will be able to help her brother move on. However when Ashley starts seeing Henry neither Chloe or Kate's ghost is pleased with the turn of events. As Ashley and Henry get closer Kate gets more angry and does what she can to irritate Ashley until she gives up on the possibility of her and Henry.When Kate sees how depressed Henry is after breaking up with Ashley it is up to her to undo the damage that she has done.

Though this movie started out pretty good it sort of lagged and went a bit arry in the middle. Eva Longoria Parker did a great job as Kate. Her character in the movie reminded me a lot of the character she plays on Desperate Housewives. Paul Rudd's character is a bit on the bland side,but endearing just the same. I have never seen the show that Lake Bell is on so she is a new actress to me and she reminds me a lot of Grace from Will and Grace when it comes to actions and wit.

Though I do like the movie to me the character Henry is under developed for a main character and Paul Rudd just does not bring a lot to the movie. The movie is a combination of something you would see on Desperate Housewives and Will and Grace. Another thing is that Ashley is supposed to be a psychic/caterer with an assistant and to me that character played by Jason Biggs and that character could have been left out all together for he did not add any depth to the plot at all. This movie was only average for the fact the story line is not really anything new just a new twist to it. This movie had potential to be more that what it ended up being because both Eva Longoria Parker and Lake Bell brought life and laughter to their characters.


I have to say that there are not quite as many laughs as I had hoped for in this movie,but this has its moments and is entertaining all the same. I have to say that the extras on the dvd were non existent as well. All you got were trailers to different movies.
