Love: Who Needs It!

Love is just too hard. It requires so much of each of us, and requires us to let down our shields. It often requires us to make sacrifices. It always requires us to feel and, perhaps hurt. Such it is in this epic tale set in Africa around the time of the First World War (1914-1918). The love triangle here is classic, yet has twists that are unexpected. The soundtrack truly establishes and captures the ambiance of this romantic classic. The plot twist at the end is both unexpected and devastating. This is a good couples film, because it explores vulnerability and intimacy, but doesn't wallow in it. How far can one go? How much will one trust? How vulnerable is one willing to be? All of these aspects of love and love relationships are explored. If I could give a 4.5 for this, I would. It is a good flick, and well worth the time.
