A helpful little appliance

I purchased a multi-level food steamer to make my life easier. I was told I would be able to cook meat, vegetables and rice all at the same time. This isn’t entirely true but it’s close.

When you open the box you will find 5 pieces. A base (with auto cooking timer), two separate steamer bowls (one slightly smaller than the other) and a solid bottom bowl (best for rice), last there is a lid.

To use the steamer you simply fill the bottom piece with water (there is a fill line indicating how much to fill). You then press the timer buttons until you have the appropriate or desired cooking time, up to 95 minutes (which I cannot imagine ever needing). Press the on button and walk away. There is also a cooking delay option of up to 12 hours.

The reason I said the “cooking everything at once” wasn’t entirely true is because different things need different times. Meat can take up to 45 minutes but many veggies only need 10. If you use the rice container there really isn’t room for anything else on the top section so you have to mash your meat and veggies together.

Clean up is very easy as everything (except the base of course) is dishwasher safe.

The negatives I can list are that the rice bowl will only fit in one of the steaming bowls. The handles will not allow the lid to close in the other steamer container. Also my second negative comes with a word of caution, BE CAREFUL opening the steamer after cooking, even after waiting several minutes when removing the lid it is very easy to get a steam burn.
