Used to Trust Oster Name

Date of Review: Oct 10, 2008

In December 2006, we bought the Oster 6325-33 model 2-slice toaster. Great, I thought, Oster has a good name in small appliances. After about a year we noticed the toast coming out lighter and lighter. We eventually dialled the darkness dial to the max but the thermostat or whatever controls "doneness" has failed to the point where it now only produces warm bread. I note others have the same problem with this toaster which points to a manufacturing quality control issue.

I got in touch with Oster in early October 2008 and they told me to take it to a service centre for repair. I checked and the cost of the repair would exceed the original cost of the toaster!

We are a retired couple so this toaster is not heavily used. It should last more than a year without failing. Oster should have stood behind this product and offered to replace it but they did not. Consumers have a right to expect more than a year of trouble-free operation from a product like this. I no longer connect the name Oster to quality.

Pros
It looks nice. It is, however, a toaster, not a decorative item.
Cons
Even with the defost button depressed, toast is barely brown.
