Looks good but don't depend on it

I received an Oregon Scientific WR108 as a Christmas gift. After reading all of the setup instructions and verifying SAME codes with the National Weather Service, I programmed the unit as directed. In the four weeks that I have had the unit, there have been four scheduled weekly test and a number of alert and watch transmissions, none of which activated the radio. I have been unable to get any response from Oregon Scientific customer support. I would not recommend this unit if you are looking for something that will alert you to a potential hazardous situation. As a device to listen to NOAA broadcasts it works fine, but you can do that with any number significantly cheaper radios that include a weather band.
