One Very Hot Minute

After guitarist John Frusciante left the band, they didn't have to look far for a replacement. The Peppers sought Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro. It took the Peppers a little over a year to complete their next album, One Hot Minute.

Despite critical acclaims and prejudices the album went double platinum in less than three months.

Some critics charge that Navarro couldn't adapt to the Peppers' unique style and packed the album with way too many guitar pyros and relied on computer linguistics, rather than basic skill.

While it's true that the album is filled with these high-tech unique sounds, failure to recognize the fact that it was an "experimental" album is often overlooked. The band obviously had difficulty adapting to Navarro's rock/alternative guitar riffs, but they had become the Kings of Rock with Frusciante's near-impossible, funky, and melodic riffs.
