Omikron the Nomad Soul

by   Segagamer ,   Jul 11, 2000

Pros:  Deep story, Great Futuristic city

Cons:  Control blows. game pauses alot

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

Author's Review

Let me start by saying this game really isn't bad. It IS fun to play and it is rather hard to combine 3 different genres into one game.
THE GAME:
this game tries hard to make you believe that this parallel universe exists. The game starts with Kay'l opening a warphole and telling you what is happening. Aparently there have been some murders
involving a mysterious murderer, and you must figure it out.

THE BASIS:
Omikron combines Adventure with action and First person Shooting. The game creates a futuristic world that is teeming with life. You can buy books,Weapons or other objects with money (Seteks) or walk around and talk with other people about Omikron. (FYI Omikron is the City's name).

THE MUSIC:
David Bowie largely contributes to this game. ou can even see a concert being given by Bowies alter game name he Dreamers. If thats not enough you can buy tapes of other songs and play them in your apartment. While I have nothing against Bowie I must wonder why Ozzy or o Zombie wasn't chosen.

THE GRAPHICS:
The graphics aren't bad. Good draw-in distance and the FPS don't really skip alot. One problem is that the game pauses alot to load. While it is a short pause, It does get annoying when all action stops every 20 or so seconds just to enter a bookstore or other shops.
Otherwise people look almost real.

THE CONTROL:
This is where the game bombs. While the control for the adventure segments are good. The FPS segment blows. Sometimes enemies will come faster than what the game will allow you to move. The fighting segments are good. Its no VF but its enjoyable. (Although sometimes you get sick at the camera).

OVERALL:
Despite some serious flaws the game still entertains. So if you want a taste of what Shen Mue is before it hits the US go ahead and buy it.
